Exhaustion does not always come from doing too much. Sometimes, it comes from holding on too tightly to subconscious beliefs for too long.
Many of us carry an invisible weight—the unshakable sense that if we don’t stay strong, if we don’t hold everything together, everything will fall apart. This belief may have formed in childhood, in a moment where it was true—where being strong, responsible, or hyper-vigilant was the only way to feel safe. Over time, this belief became a way of life. Even when there is no longer a crisis, the body doesn’t forget. The tension remains—shoulders tight, neck stiff, a nervous system that never fully relaxes. Even in sleep, the body resists letting go. This is where today’s session began. Holding Space for Exhaustion At first, the exhaustion was met with resistance. A voice inside said: "Come on, push through. Get over it. You have responsibilities." And yet, this exhaustion was not just about daily stress. It was a message from deep within--a signal that something long-held was ready to be seen. We began by simply holding space. The first invitation: “I hold space for myself.” At first, the words felt unfamiliar. But repetition brought a shift. Then, a deeper challenge: “I hold space for my exhaustion.” Here, resistance appeared. Exhaustion had never been allowed before—it had always been something to fight, to push through. But in this moment, instead of rejecting it, we turned toward it. Tracing the Tension Back to Its Source Through somatic awareness, we followed the exhaustion into the body. The shoulders, the neck—the places where the grip of responsibility had lived for years. And then, a memory surfaced: A younger self, holding on tightly, believing she had to keep everything together. The belief had formed: “If I let go, everything will fall apart.” At that time, this belief was necessary. It helped her navigate uncertainty, it gave her a sense of control in a world that felt unstable. But now, in the present, this same belief was no longer serving her—it was draining her. This is the moment of integration. The recognition that the strength that once saved her is now the very thing exhausting her. And this is where sound entered. Releasing Through Sound Tones for grounding, for loosening the grip. Vibrations meeting the places that had been holding on for years. Overtones and percussion stirring what was ready to shift. The koshi chimes, offering lightness—a contrast to the weight that had been carried for so long. And then, a vision: A feather carried by the wind. A symbol of something new. Of trust instead of control. Softness instead of resistance. Strength in fluidity, rather than rigidity. By the end, something had shifted. A recognition that:
Where in my life am I still gripping too tightly? And what would happen if I finally let myself rest? Aslı Örs Çağlı

FIELD NOTESWelcome to Field Notes, where we share stories of transformation, moments of resonance, and the profound insights that emerge from our work at Creativity Lab. Each entry captures the essence of our journey—working with sound, movement, and reflection to help individuals reconnect with their inner wisdom, embrace their authentic expression, and find balance in the dualities of life. These notes offer a glimpse into the shifts we witness: the reclamation of joy through pain, the power of trusting one’s inner voice, and the beauty of holding space for others to step into their fullest selves. Through these reflections, we invite you to explore what’s possible when we listen deeply, move with intention, and allow sound to guide us toward transformation. Join us as we continue to chart the path of resonance, one note at a time. Archives
